Dehydrated Apple Cinnamon Slices

I was at the grocery store the other day, hungry. (Yes, I know that was a bad idea.) Walking through the bulk section looking at snacks, I saw some dehydrated cinnamon apple slices. They looked so good! So what did I do? I walked right back over to the apple section and grabbed some apples to make them myself. I’m glad I did because I think they turned out better than how the store-bought ones would have tasted.

Mountain Man and I are not big lunch eaters. We mostly like to just eat snacks throughout the day until dinner. I always make him snack bags full of nuts and other things to take to work. I thought this would be a good addition plus he might actually end up eating some fruit.

apple slicesDon’t leave them too thick otherwise it will take forever to dehydrate them! Apples with CinnamonApples on RackThis is after 10 hours of being in the dehydrator. I let it run all night so I didn’t have to listen to it during the day.

If you are wondering what machine I have, I got it on sale at Cabela’s but here are some similar ones from amazon.

I love dehydrating fruit and making jerky! What is your favorite item to dehydrate?

Dehydrated Apple Cinnamon Slices

Rating: 51

Ingredients

  • Fuji apples
  • Cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. Slice apples (4 slices per ¼ of an apple).
  2. Line apples up on a rack.
  3. Sprinkle the top sides with cinnamon using a spoon.
  4. Dehydrate for 10 hours at 135 degrees F or until done. (they may need longer if the apples are super juicy)
  5. When they are done, put them in a bowl and toss it in the freezer for a week. After you can vacuum seal them in a jar and this will make them last for a long time.

Notes

We used fuji apples which were super sweet so we didn’t need to coat both sides. Try a piece and you can decide if you need more sugar. If you do, or you are making a big batch dump the `apples into a bag with the sugar and shake, it will be much faster.
